Mele Kalikimaka!!!

For those of you that don't know any Hawaiian...that means Merry Christmas! I realize it is a few days late, but never the less! We went to Michael's parent's house for Christmas. We had a wonderful time! We went to Ken's house of pancakes for brunch and had a feast that Pat cooked for dinner! There were plenty of gifts opened and we all wore silly holiday hats compliments of Mom! A good time was had by all!
As of January 1st i am ALLOWED to take down the Christmas decor and sadly Mr. Christmas will go into hibernation until next year around Thanksgiving. Mr. Christmas is Michael's nickname during the holidays due to his enthusiasm. Sometimes i have been called "the humbug" because i forget to turn on the tree lights!
The baby has been doing well! She continues to have active and inactive moments. Our friends and family have been able to feel and see her kick now. I'll be six months prego on tuesday! i'll post another tummy picture at that time.
Hope you all had very wonderful and safe holiday seasons! God bless and we love you!

Christmas Party

Aloha!!! Just a quick note to check in! This is a pic from Michael's work Christmas Party at the Four Seasons on Friday. We had a great time. They had a huge buffet with every food you can imagine. I was particularly fond of the ice cream stand:). We danced some...but a prego woman dancing just seems funny to me.... One of Michael's friends told me it was entertaining, no one likes him much. haha j/k

We started our child birthing classes a few weeks ago. We love our teacher and have learned so much already. I'm not sure if i wrote this already or not, but we are planning on having a natural child birth. I won't say never when it comes to the drugs...but if at all possible i'd rather do it without. The class we are taking caters to natural child birth. We have two other couples that we are friends with in our class.

Isla has developed a trend of being extremely active for several days, then being very mellow for the next few. My favorites are the active days. My kids at school get really intrigued when they can see my shirt pop up when she kicks. They ask "How'd you get her in there?" and "Can you take her out so we can see her?". We decided to get her Christmas gifts. We had to buy her her first pair of shoes:) Shoes are a very important part of a woman's life so it was only fitting that Mommy buys the first pair. They are very sassy with flowers and a chiffon bow that ties around the ankle. That's it for now! Love and miss you all!

5 Months

Aloha! So almost...on Tuesday it will be five months. This is the big half way marker!!! 20 weeks down....20 to go! So this week she has been active as anything. I felt her kicking earlier this week and looked down at my stomach. To my surprise i could see my belly pop out when she kicked! She doesn't even weigh a pound yet! I'm wondering what kind of damage she will do when she's 5 or 6 pounds. I love feeling her move. Michael calls it my new favorite thing. No one tells you how amazing it is every single time she squirms, kicks, punches, etc. I drop everything I'm doing and just take it in. I have another appointment on tuesday and i'm sure it will be uneventful. We start our prenatal/birthing classes tomorrow. Also, it seems the hormones are flowing freely!!! For starters, I'm now allergic to my wedding ring. Evertime I try to wear it, my finger gets a blister on it. Then yesterday I started crying uncontrollably because i was frightened by Michael's driving. I knew it was stupid so i was laughing and crying at the same time! I've also had three laughing fits at completely inappropriate times where i can barely breath, i'm crying, and my stomach hurts! Of course Michael fuels the fire to elongate the laughing fits:). It's very bizarre (and entertaining at times) to have these emotions that you have little to no control over! So that's it for baby stuff.
In other news Jaggar Cerf received his purple belt in karate this week! YEAH JAGGY!!!! He accidentally saw his Christmas present today! It's a new mongoose bike. OOPs on our part for forgetting and letting him in our room! Regardless he is stoked.
Mama shall hit the big 3-0!!! A little painful i must admit. The good news is I had an amazing party, recieved much support from friends and family, and was very spoiled by my hubby. Those things made the passing of my 20s not hurt as much.
Much Love!

My baby Girl!!!

We went to the doctor on oahu on Wed. and got to see our little baby! He said she is a girl...and a very active one at that!!! When he was moving the ultrasound wand on my belly, she punched it! It was so crazy because I saw her punch it AND I felt it! He said she is 11 oz. and looks very healthy. Apparently she was the prettiest baby he saw all day....who cares if she was the first one he saw! haha.

We are sooooo excited! I love boys, but I really wanted a little girl. We went directly to the mall and I got her two dresses. I just couldn't help myself. Girls run sparse in our families. On my Dad's side there are 11 grandchildren, I am the only girl. Michael's Mom has three boys and one grandson, no girls. There are plenty of girls on my Mom's side, but virtually none on the other two sides. Our little girl will be named Isla Makanalani Cerf. I can't wait to meet her!

Hope you all are well!

Dancing with the Baby?

So this is what four months looks like. Unfortunately i had just worked out when we FINALLY remembered we needed to take a pic...so clearly not a great photo... but you get the point! now there is a tummy!

Now to the big news! I was watching Dancing with the Stars season finally and laying in bed last night. Out of no where i felt this jolt in my tummy.... then another and another. I had michael feel and he couldnt believe it! i think the baby was having a house party in my tummy, dancing away! a little odd considering that was the first real movement i've felt. we were very excited and decided he/she must like the music and will surely be a dancer.

oh yeah...i updated the halloween blog with a pic. finally we found the charger! yeah!

4 Month Visit

So yesterday I went to my four month check up. My friend Liz went with me. The doctor found the baby's heartbeat immediately and it was nice and strong. It was such a comfort to hear that heart beat. She said I'm just the right size and that things should be on the right track now. I go to Oahu (a different island) on Nov. 22 to get a level 2 ultrasound with a specialist. We will find out the sex that day too!!! I'm going to have Michael take a picture of the belly soon to post. That's it for now!

Halloween and the name game

So I've been very bad and have not updated in awhile. we had a great halloween with many parties. i have pictures.....however, i seem to have misplaced the battery and charger for my camera:) i'm blaming it on pregnant brain haha. once i find it or replace it, i will post pix of us at Halloween. Jaggar went as the grim reaper, i was a witch (original i know), michael was clark kent/superman.
On to the baby stuff! so far things are going better! i have my next appt. on tuesday and will fill you in then too. i'm starting to show a little now! i will post pix, but....again...the camera thing:) we have decided on a boy and girl name. for now we are pretty set on these names, but we do still have a ways to go til the big day. i will put the hawaiian meanings and pronunciations in ( ).
boy: Kai (rhymes with tie) (ocean) Orion (oh-ryan) Cerf
girl: Isla (eye-luh) Makanalani (gift from heaven) Cerf

yes..they are different....but honestly, what did you expect:) i was very attatched to the name Hazel for a girl, but received so much flack for it that it got pulled. (i still like it MOM!!!!) haha.
over and out for now! ALOHA!!!

The Big Quake!

We are okay! We had a huge earthquake yesterday that measured 6.6 in the richter (sp?) scale. Michael and I were still in bed...it was 7:04 am. It lasted what seemed like forever.....some reports say 25 seconds some say 45. I was expecting the roof to fall in honestly. We came out of the room and saw a wreck! All of my drinking glasses except one haha was broken. Many spices had smashed on the kitchen floor too. Needless to say we cleaned up a large amount of glass. Things that fell: everything in our showers and medicine cabinets, a huge mirror in the living room, our 2 glass shower doors, our computer monitor, our microwave, all of our dvds were on the floor, our laptop, most things on shelves. The great news is that everything works!!! Nothing, minus the glasses and spices, broke! Things are scratched and nicked...but okay none the less. We packed up and left immediately thinking there may be a tsunami....halfway up the mountain we heard there was no threat. We came home and cleaned up the mess. It was actually a beautiful day and we went to the pool and out to dinner. I would say 1/4 of the businesses in town were open. We are okay and thankful for our good fortune! What an experience!!!

The Baby and the Belly (sorta)

We had our follow up visit today! It went wonderfully. She let us hear the baby's heart beat and answered my questions. She said I am no longer a high risk pregnancy and she's very optimistic. I'm officially out of the first trimester! She didn't do an ultrasound, but I'm including the one from last week. I FINALLY figured out my scanner ha ha. If you look closely, you can see the outline of the nose and mouth. We have a more detailed ultra sound sometime in December that will tell us the sex of the baby. For all of you that demanded belly pix..... here it is! As you can tell .....I'm not really showing yet! I thought you'd enjoy the beach back drop:). If you check out the first blog I edited and inserted the infamous "Smudge" picture. That's it for now!

Thank you God!!!

So here is a story about what our weekend looked like. On Sat. We were baby sitting for some friends at their house. I had some cramping.....but didn't think much about it. At this point I'm use to weird things happening to my body. I went to the bathroom and realized I was bleeding. I'll leave out details here, just realize it was bad. We went home and I called the 24 hour hotline. The nurse told me to stay on bedrest until Mon. morning and then go to the dr. She said she didn't want me to lose hope....but it didn't sound good. Sunday was awful. I was still bleeding, although not as bad. I just wanted to know what was happening to the baby. I prayed several times throughout the day. I was also bracing myself for the possibility of a miscarriage. We were supposed to have gone to Hilo to see my inlaws that day. Michael told them what had happened and they came over to pray for me and spend time with us. Monday morning we went to the Dr. I told her all of the details of what had happened and she told me it was a miscarriage. She did a pelvic exam and said the cervix had shrunk to almost pre-pregnancy size and that the uterus was closed off. I asked her again....so the baby's gone? Yes, she told me. I was devastated. She wanted to do an ultrasound to see if everything had passed. She did the ultra sound and there was a perfect baby with a heartbeat!!!!! All of our jaws were on the ground! I kept thanking God! I sobbed. Michael and I can honestly say that this was the most shocking moment of our lives! She could not explain why I had the problems.... maybe a cyst....polyp.... dunno. Our baby is okay..... Thank you God! We feel very blessed!

Aloha!

I have a confession............... this is my first time to blog.....EVER!!! It feels a little awkward, but I'll go with it. My friend Dena encouraged me to create this page to keep all of our loved ones that live far away (pretty much EVERYONE), up to date on our lives. At this point the big news in our lives is the baby we are expecting. I am about 10 weeks along, my due date is April 24, 2007. So far I just have a tiny pooch that most people who don't know me wouldn't probably notice. I will try to post a picture soon. We are VERY excited about this addition to our family. There is sooooo much that goes along with pregnancy and babies that I had absolutely no clue about!!! The first thing that shocked me was what they call "fatigue." That's the world's biggest understatement.....it feels more like "barely breathing":) haha. I think I'm turning the corner with that tho. I've actually had a little more energy this week than before. We have one ultrasound of the baby at 6 weeks. In the ultrasound there is a tiny grey smudge at the bottom of the screen. We have lovingly nicknamed the baby "Smudge." We go for the 12 week check up on October 10th. Hopefully we'll have a nice pic to display after. That's it for now!!!
