The Big Quake!

We are okay! We had a huge earthquake yesterday that measured 6.6 in the richter (sp?) scale. Michael and I were still in bed...it was 7:04 am. It lasted what seemed like forever.....some reports say 25 seconds some say 45. I was expecting the roof to fall in honestly. We came out of the room and saw a wreck! All of my drinking glasses except one haha was broken. Many spices had smashed on the kitchen floor too. Needless to say we cleaned up a large amount of glass. Things that fell: everything in our showers and medicine cabinets, a huge mirror in the living room, our 2 glass shower doors, our computer monitor, our microwave, all of our dvds were on the floor, our laptop, most things on shelves. The great news is that everything works!!! Nothing, minus the glasses and spices, broke! Things are scratched and nicked...but okay none the less. We packed up and left immediately thinking there may be a tsunami....halfway up the mountain we heard there was no threat. We came home and cleaned up the mess. It was actually a beautiful day and we went to the pool and out to dinner. I would say 1/4 of the businesses in town were open. We are okay and thankful for our good fortune! What an experience!!!

The Baby and the Belly (sorta)

We had our follow up visit today! It went wonderfully. She let us hear the baby's heart beat and answered my questions. She said I am no longer a high risk pregnancy and she's very optimistic. I'm officially out of the first trimester! She didn't do an ultrasound, but I'm including the one from last week. I FINALLY figured out my scanner ha ha. If you look closely, you can see the outline of the nose and mouth. We have a more detailed ultra sound sometime in December that will tell us the sex of the baby. For all of you that demanded belly pix..... here it is! As you can tell .....I'm not really showing yet! I thought you'd enjoy the beach back drop:). So here is a story about what our weekend looked like. On Sat. We were baby sitting for some friends at their house. I had some cramping.....but didn't think much about it. At this point I'm use to weird things happening to my body. I went to the bathroom and realized I was bleeding. I'll leave out details here, just realize it was bad. We went home and I called the 24 hour hotline. The nurse told me to stay on bedrest until Mon. morning and then go to the dr. She said she didn't want me to lose hope....but it didn't sound good. Sunday was awful. I was still bleeding, although not as bad. I just wanted to know what was happening to the baby. I prayed several times throughout the day. I was also bracing myself for the possibility of a miscarriage. We were supposed to have gone to Hilo to see my inlaws that day. Michael told them what had happened and they came over to pray for me and spend time with us. Monday morning we went to the Dr. I told her all of the details of what had happened and she told me it was a miscarriage. She did a pelvic exam and said the cervix had shrunk to almost pre-pregnancy size and that the uterus was closed off. I asked her again....so the baby's gone? Yes, she told me. I was devastated. She wanted to do an ultrasound to see if everything had passed. She did the ultra sound and there was a perfect baby with a heartbeat!!!!! All of our jaws were on the ground! I kept thanking God! I sobbed. Michael and I can honestly say that this was the most shocking moment of our lives! She could not explain why I had the problems.... maybe a cyst....polyp.... dunno. Our baby is okay..... Thank you God! We feel very blessed!
